Negative Verbs

Negative Verb Forms

Negative verbs are seldom used in traditional Japanese haiku, since the purpose of the haiku is usually to turn the reader to a positive side of life.
So even if a positive meaning does not exactly correspond to your
"experience", for the sake of the haiku form, it is better to change a verb into the positive form.

Here is an example

wetland shells -
they do know nothing
of the moon


better turned positive to

wetland shells -
they really know all
about the moon
